Part 2: Research and Reducing Blind Risk
Before a business becomes real, it must become clear.
Entrepreneurship always involves risk. No amount of planning can eliminate uncertainty. But successful entrepreneurs rarely operate blindly. They ask questions. They gather information. They observe the market. They listen carefully to customers.
Research helps transform a simple idea into something grounded in reality. It allows entrepreneurs to test assumptions before investing large amounts of time or money. In the trades especially, research is often overlooked. Skilled tradespeople are highly capable technically, but many businesses struggle because they misunderstand their market, their customers, or their competitors.
Good research answers four essential questions: Who is my customer? What problem am I solving? Who else is already doing this? Why would someone choose my business?
This part of the book will help you begin answering those questions.
