Learning how to use lab equipment in exercise physiology

This manual provides reference material for techniques used in the lab for exercise physiology. It is recognized that every labratory is unique in its goals and capabilities.
Where possible we proivde relevant examples used in a research lab or clinical setting although we are providing a generic example that may change in different labs.
This manual is not the be all end all of a complete reference manual, and in many cases there are different procedures that work in a variety of different settings.
This textbook provides the background information about the techniques.
Specifically it conveys the history and producure of the technique and discusses the validity, reliability and responsiveness of each techniques, expanding on its strengths and limitations.
For information related to what each lab will entail, please refer to the lab manual for each weeks lab and follow the procedures in the lab manual to prepare for the lab. For those that are really curious, don’t forget to read the references 🙂
This OER textbook is a resource used to support the Exercise Science course at Capilano University as part of the bachelors degreee in Kinesiology.
