Future actions (le futur proche)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\r\n(a) To indicate future actions, use the verb aller<\/strong> followed by an infinitive.\r\n\r\nThis infinitive construction is called the\u00a0futur proche<\/strong> (near future).\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

(I am going to have dinner at my parents' house).<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n \r\n\r\n(b) If you are wanting to express what you are not going to do, put the negation<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>ne (n')...pas<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>around<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>aller<\/strong>, the conjugated verb. Note how the verbs danser<\/strong> and faire<\/strong> are left in the infinitive form in the examples below:\u00a0<\/span>\r\n

<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n(c) Remember that when you use aller<\/strong> along with a verbe r\u00e9fl\u00e9chi<\/strong> (a reflexive verb) to express a future action, you need to ensure the reflexive pronoun is the same as the subject of the sentence. Have a look at the use of se lever<\/strong> (to get up) in the following sentences:\r\n

Je<\/span> vais me<\/span> lever<\/span> t\u00f4t demain. (I am going to get up early tomorrow)<\/em>\r\n\r\nTu<\/span> vas te<\/span> lever<\/span> t\u00f4t aussi? (You are also going to get up early?)<\/em>\r\n\r\nNous<\/span> allons\u00a0nous<\/span> lever<\/span> t\u00f4t. (We are going to get up early).<\/em><\/blockquote>\r\n \r\n\r\n(d) Here is some useful vocabulary to memorize for talking about the near future:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
