Here are some typical commands a teacher might give during class.\u00a0It is helpful to learn basic vocabulary to follow\u00a0<\/span>instructions in class<\/strong> as it will enable you to become more immersed in the language.\u00a0<\/span>In the first column, <\/span>the commands are in the plural <\/span>vous<\/strong>\u00a0form when the teacher addresses the whole class together. Notice the\u00a0<\/span>-ez<\/strong> ending in the verbs which is associated with <\/span>the pronoun\u00a0<\/span>vous<\/strong>\u00a0and can refer to a group of people (plural you) or a single person (formal you). <\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Note on pronun<\/span>ciation: when you listen to the vocabulary, pay attention on how most final consonants of words are NOT pronounced. I.e. Ouvre<\/span>z<\/del>, fran\u00e7ai<\/span>s<\/del>.<\/span>. The second column lists the same commands in the singular <\/span>tu<\/strong>\u00a0form used when addressing one person. Notice that the endings for\u00a0<\/span>tu<\/strong>\u00a0commands vary from verb to verb. We will learn more about commands \u2013 or imperatives \u2014 later on.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
