Dementia is an irreversible condition that is affecting a growing number of people in Canada. As we have an increasingly aging population in Canada, there is a need to understand how we might improve their quality of life as well as understand what can be done to prevent early onset of dementia.

The College of New Caledonia in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada is conducting a project on dementia awareness in our community. The overall aim of this project is to meaningfully engage with communities in our region to gain an understanding of their needs and concerns about Dementia, and to develop psycho-social guidelines that are relevant to Northern BC.

This website will present our on-going journey as we explore dementia awareness in our region through surveys, interviews and workshops. You will also find useful resources to increase your own understanding.
