Why did we create this resource?

We created this resource to highlight the contributions of diverse scientists. From our experience, it is difficult to find resources that celebrate scientists from diverse groups and disciplines. Most people are familiar with Einstein, but our book focuses on scientists who are IBPOC and/or 2SLGBTQ+ and their incredible, positive impacts on our world.

Who do we think could use this resource?

We created this resource for our teacher candidates, but we think it could be useful for teachers and students across BC and Canada.

Although each page makes connections to different subjects in the BC high school Science curriculum, we think the content could be adapted to suit any curriculum!

How to use this resource?

We recommend starting with the Table of Contents. This book is organized alphabetically, so pick a favourite Diverse Scientist or a name that is completely new to you and enjoy!

When did we create this resource?

The first version of Diverse Scientist was created at the end of 2021.
