This book is an adaptation of Europe Since 1600: A Concise History, published by Nicole Jobin in 2023, under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, except where otherwise noted. Much of the original text was written by Christopher Brooks in Western Civilization: A Concise History, and unless otherwise noted, was published in three volumes under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA Licence in 2019, with updates in 2020 available on the Open Textbook Library website. The new and revised material in this adaptation is copyrighted 2025 by the adapting author, Meghan K. Bowe, and is released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 License.
This edition includes original material on the Second World War and Post-war period in addition to identification terms, historical sources, images and questions for discussion. Other specific adaptations are listed at the end of each chapter. In general, typographical errors were corrected and language was occasionally revised to improve clarity.
