For the purposes of this subsection, the three nature dimensions of the Planetary Health Framework were amalgamated, which include pollution, waters and lands, as well as biodiversity. Selected recommendations are presented below.\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Nature\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Implement green infrastructure and adopt net-zero standards.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Protect biodiversity and promote sustainable development practices.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Densify residential units to conserve natural areas.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Prosperity\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Diversify local businesses and improve transportation options.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Support local economy and create more commercial spaces.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Promote circular economies and endorse local businesses.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Equity\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Promote diversity and inclusion within governance.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Engage marginalized communities and support reconciliation efforts.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Ensure public buildings and businesses are accessible to all.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Health\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Increase access to healthcare services and improve emergency preparedness.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Provide resources for mental health and support youth.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Governance\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Implement transparent and accountable decision-making.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Establish an accountability framework with measurable indicators.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Allocate sufficient resources for implementing the OCP.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Power Relations\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Empower community involvement and ensure inclusive decision-making.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Address the influence of lobby groups and ensure decisions represent all stakeholders.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nAn extended list of suggestions to improve the OCP, as identified during focus group discussions, was presented for the District of Sooke to inform future directions of the draft OCP (Mountfort, 2025).
