In French, the preposition \u00e0<\/strong> often means \"to\", \"at\", or \"in\", depending on the context. But it can also mean a variety of other things that you will learn throughout this book. For this section, we will focus on using \u00e0<\/strong> to talk about where people and things are located.<\/p>\r\n

We use this preposition to say where something or someone is located. This usually translates as \"in\", like \u00e0 San Diego<\/strong> (in San Diego) or \"at\" like \u00e0 la plage<\/strong> (at the beach).<\/p>\r\n

When it is followed by the masculine definite article le<\/strong> it must be contracted. Compare:<\/p>\r\n
