You could simply indicate the direction something is in from where you are or someone else is standing. These prepositions are listed in the left column of the table below. For example, you just say:<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">C'est <strong>au nord<\/strong>. (It's to the north.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">Elle est <strong>\u00e0 gauche<\/strong>. (It's on the left.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">C'est <strong>par l\u00e0<\/strong>. (It's that way. It's over there.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">Il est <strong>loin<\/strong>. (It is far [away]).<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">C'est \u00e0 <strong>c\u00f4t\u00e9<\/strong>. (It's next door.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"lt-human-118945\">II. <strong>[\u00eatre] + [preposition of location] + [definite article, noun]<\/strong>. To put 2 things in relation to each other use the prepositions listed below in the right column. Here is the example of the preposition <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de<\/strong> (next to):<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">Marc est <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de<\/strong> Michelle. (Marc is next to Michelle.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">L'\u00e9picerie est <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de<\/strong> l'h\u00f4pital. (The grocery store is next to the hospital.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">La parc est <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 des<\/strong> restaurants. (The park is next to the restaurants.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">Le caf\u00e9 est <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du<\/strong> mus\u00e9e. (The park is next to the restaurants.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"lt-human-118945\">The difference between these two types can be seen here:<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">Marc est <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9<\/strong>. (Marc is next door.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"mt-indent-1 lt-human-118945\">Marc est <strong>\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de<\/strong> Michelle. (Marc is next to Michelle.)<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"lt-human-118945\">The addition, <strong>de<\/strong> allows you to locate Marc in relation to something or someone else, in this case Michelle. It has the same function as the English word to in the example above. Note, however, that not all prepositions of the second type need to use <strong>de<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"lt-human-118945\">Here is a list of the most common prepositions of
