Introduce Yourself

Welcome to Pressbooks.

Pressbooks is a publishing PLATFORM.

You can use it to produce books that look great in print, in e-books and on the Web.

(You are not writing a book, or making an MSWord file, you are actually making a web page, that can then be exported onto the web (as a web page), or into a PDF for printing, and it will look professional.)

It is the platform preferred by BCcampus for open books.

But you can write the great Canadian novel using this program and make a fortune selling it.

You own the copyright to anything you produce.

Opening Questions

On a scale of 1 to 5,

1 = Pressbooks?  We are going to press a book?

2 = I have used WordPress and/or I know some HTML?

3 = I have logged into Pressbooks, made a book, but only used text.

4 = I have made books and have added some fun stuff, like videos but want to learn more.

5 = I have published a number of books and I am comfortable with HTML and LaTeX to write equations.

And then – what do you want to get out of this workshop?
