ADH is also known as vasopressin because, in very high concentrations, it causes constriction of blood vessels, which increases blood pressure by increasing peripheral resistance.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-antifungal\">antifungal<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>Medications that are used to treat fungal infections.\u00a0 For example, nystatin is used to treat Candida Albicans, a fungal infection.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-antimotility-medications\">antimotility medications<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>Medications that help to treat diarrhea by slowing peristalsis.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-antiviral\">antiviral<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>Medications used to treat viral infections. Its location in the brain also allows it to play a vital role in the control of autonomic functions by the central nervous system.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-arrhythmia\">arrhythmia<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>A deviation from the normal pattern of impulse conduction and contraction of the heart, which if serious and untreated, can lead to decreased cardiac output and death.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt data-type=\"glossterm\"><dfn id=\"dfn-arteriosclerosis\">arteriosclerosis<\/dfn><\/dt>\n<dd data-type=\"glossdef\">\n<p>A condition when compliance in an artery is reduced and pressure and resistance within the vessel increase.
