Adjudication Process

The adjudication process involves the evaluation of the nominations based on the criteria created in the nomination phase.

As OER Champions is non-competitive and is a recognition of UBC faculty, students and staff, the adjudication process is an evaluation. The adjudication team is made up of the OER Champions Event Planning Team. The process of adjudication is as follows:

  1. Collate all nominations from the survey into a shared Excel or Google sheet. Include the criteria for evaluation;
    • Create a shared Excel sheet for all planning team members to access;
  2. Review the nominations and identify nominations that do not meet the nomination criteria. This can be done either through a discussion approach or through a rubric that ranks the criteria;
  3. Review the nominations and identify nominations that may require clarification (e.g. additional details about the nominees OER practices, resources developed, etc.);
    • If additional clarification is needed, CTLT (Vancouver) and UBC Library will provide additional details if they are aware of the nominees efforts. If this is not the case, email nominators for more clarification. If the nominators email is unavailable, contact the nominee to confirm the role of the nominee in their OER practice;
    • Remember to keep notes of the explanations for nominations as these will be used in developing promotional materials for the event and website;
  4. If the nominee does not meet the criteria, note this in the Excel sheet.
