Post Event Promotion

It is important to continue promoting the OER Champions with social media campaigns after the event to continue the momentum of advocating for open educational resources on campus and the recognition of individuals for their work. Post event promotions can also help to increase future nominations.

OER Champions Blogpost

Highlights from the OER Champions event can provide those who were not in attendance a sense of the celebration, including who was in attendance to recognize the winners. Writing a blogpost that outlines the event details, speakers, entertainment, photographs, and “quotables” from winners, keeps OER in the mind of the campus and provides the opportunity to gain new nominees for future years.

OER Champions Interviews

There are several options to promote the event after it is complete.  Conducting interviews with the OER Champions and share individual stories to recognize their unique efforts and contributions is one way to continue the conversation and advocacy work around open education. The interviews should highlight the open educational resources that were created by the OER Champions. If possible, include information about the number of students impacted by the creation of the OER, the cost savings to students, and any pedagogical innovations or advancements.

Examples of Interviews

These are examples of interviews of OER creators. These were conducted by the UBC Okanagan Library and posted on their website.
