Acne Conglobata<\/h1>\r\nAcne <\/span>conglobata<\/span> is a severe form of nodulocystic acne <\/span>without systemic symptoms. Some patients may develop acne conglobate as part of the \u201cFollicular Occlusion Tetrad\u201d along with dissecting cellulitis of scalp, hidradenitis suppur<\/span>a<\/span>tiva and pilonidal sinus. <\/span>Isotretinoin is used to treat acne <\/span>congloba<\/span>ta<\/span> and may require concomitant oral corticosteroids<\/span>, especially at the beginning of the course when the acne can flare as isotretinoin is started.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\r\n

Acne Fulminans<\/h1>\r\nAcne fulminans is a severe form of acne characterized by the abrupt onset of nodular and cystic acne lesions with<\/span> systemic symptoms including fever, <\/span>arthralgia<\/span> and myalgia, osteolytic bone lesions and hepatosplenomegaly. <\/span>This requires prompt treatment with <\/span>oral corticosteroids, followed by isotretinoin, initiated at a low dose and then increased.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\r\n

Medication-induced Acne<\/h1>\r\nCommon medications known to cause acne include anabolic steroids, lithium, <\/span>corticosteroids, unopposed progestin, and phenytoin. <\/span>If the causative medication <\/span>cannot<\/span> be <\/span>discontinued,<\/span> then the <\/span>acne can be treated as above. <\/span>In steroid-induced acne, the lesions are quite <\/span>monomorphous<\/span>.
