See details below. <span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You may work individually or in a group of 2 or 3 (maximum)\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<h2>Selecting a Topic<\/h2>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Select a topic (see suggested topics on the\u00a0 page 4)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>You may choose a topic other than the one listed (make sure to check it with the instructor)<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2><strong>Conducting Research\r\n<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nYou will conduct your topic research in two areas :\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Scholarly Research: (on-line scientific journals)\r\nMinimum THREE scientific psychology journal articles (published later than 2010) from PsycInfo or PsycArticle . These are data bases that contain thousands of scientific research articles on psychology topics.\u00a0\u00a0 (Do not use Google or Wikipedia for scholarly research)\r\nChoose relevant three articles, read them, and draw information about your topic- what the current psychology research says about it; e.g., if your topic is \u201cyouth violence\u201d, you can find scholarly articles that will provide you\u00a0with information based on data from empirical studies<\/li>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Applied (Community) Research\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You will examine how this topic is \u201capplied\u201d or is relevant to our present-day society &amp; day-to-day life in Canada; e.g., if your topic is \u201cYouth Violence\u201d, you can go to RCMP website and find out some statistics on prevalence of violent crimes committed by youth. You can also check online popular media such as news articles on youth gang violence in Vancouver.
