How to Make Friends

Friends are the most important person for everyone after a family. We all know that one faces so many problems even when they shift from one city to another. And we can’t even imagine that from how many ups and downs the students might have to go through when they leave their countries, friend circle, and families to study in a totally new and different country with entirely new environment. The survey we done shows the barriers for an interaction between international and domestic students as there are very few international students who have domestic friends. In survey we ask international students about what percentage of your friends are domestic students.

The survey results that only 10% of international students interact with domestic students. KPU organize various events, functions and service to overcome these barriers. To improve relations and to make friends students need to:

  1. Attend Orientation: The first step for an international student is to attend orientation. Every college or university organise an Orientation just before some days of a semester begins as it is the best way for students to know about their college or university campus and can make meet new people or their batchmates. Orientation usually is for a day where students become familiar with the campus, student resources and services. It is like an opportunity for new international students to meet with their seniors.
  2. Take part in Events: KPU organise many events that gives an opportunity for everyone to meet with new people. Events are one of the best ways for an international student for their recreation and making new friends. The collage or the university organises the event keeping in mind the cultures of different countries. Students get a chance to explore different cultures and gives them a chance to make new friends beyond their cultures in different communities.
  3. Do Volunteer Activities: Students need to participate more in volunteer activities. As volunteer activities help to improve leadership skills, develop confidence, and its an opportunity to meet new people and make friends. Volunteer activities take place in on-campus and off-campus. KPU also organise a trip of these volunteer to outside the campus to different people rather than students.
  4. Emphasis more Group Works: Almost 90% teachers focus on group activities because it helps the students to improve team work skills. They get exposure to different culture students. They learn leadership skills. This also improves the relations between domestic and international. Groups are mainly divided by professors and they mainly focus to make a balance between the capability and accountability of students. Group works are also one of the best ways to make new friends.
