8 TLC Community of Practice: The Western Kenyan League

WESTERN KENYA TLC COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE [CoPs]

As TLCs develop and grow across western Kenya, it is our hope to remain connected to one another through a community of practice approach. Our hope is to work alongside our peers in our own continuous evolvement, supporting one another, learning from one another and inspiriting one another.  This chapter outlines our newly minted (2023) Community of Practice for Western Kenyan TLCs.

To work together in shaping the current and future of pedagogy and methodology for the efficient delivery of TVET programs that meet market demands.

To support each other in the empowerment of TVET trainers in innovative pedagogical skills, methodologies, market-driven training practices and active teaching-learning experiences that meet the unique needs of the member institutions.

PURPOSE OF THE CoPs

The Western Kenya TLC League aims at creating a strong team that will enhance the delivery of TVET programs by empowering trainers with appropriate pedagogical skills and methodologies. 

OBJECTIVES

The Western Kenya TLC League specifically aims at enabling the members to:

  1. Learn from best practices in TLCs management and handling of challenges through sharing of experiences for mutual gain.
  2. Create a forum for the capacity building of TLC staff thereby empowering them to efficiently deliver services.
  3. Enhance innovation and scholarship of teaching-learning [SoTL] to them participate conferences and production of teaching-learning resources.
  4. Network with local and international TLC-related organizations.
  5. e)Expand the concept of TLCs in Kenya, starting with Western region.
  6. Lobby for the interests and recognition of TLCs as key agents in TVET.
