Dr. Isabel Machado is a Brazilian cisgender woman who is living, working and playing on the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil Waututh) and sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Coast Salish) peoples. Entrusted with teaching this course while conducting an oral history project with gender-diverse people in different parts of the globe she is very conscious of the responsibility to approach her research and teaching with respect and to honour and centre trans* voices.
