Using\/Grading Forums<\/h2>\r\n

How to grade using whole forum grading<\/h2>\r\n
    \r\n \t
  1. Go into your course and for your forum, ensure whole forum grading<\/strong> is set up in the forum settings.<\/li>\r\n \t
  2. Open the forum.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\"Open\r\n\r\nClick on the Grade Users <\/strong>button.\r\n\r\n\"Grade\r\n
      \r\n \t
    1. On the left you should now see one students entire collection of forum postings (as well as responses) and on the right the students name and where to enter a grade.<\/li>\r\n \t
    2. Enter the Grade<\/strong> on the right, and click the Next arrow <\/strong>(the black arrow pointing to the right) to view another students submission and mark.<\/li>\r\n \t
    3. Once you have graded all students or you are finished select the Save<\/strong> button at the top.<\/li>\r\n \t
    4. Click Close<\/strong> and now these grades will automatically input into the Moodle gradebook for your class.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\"Grading\r\n

      Posting to a group forum<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nIf you would like to post content to a group forum there are a few extra steps you have to take to ensure this works properly; you cannot post the way you would for all students\/participants to see.\r\n\r\nIf you would like to post a topic or question to all groups\r\n
        \r\n \t
      1. Ensure this is a group forum by going to the forums settings and looking under the Common module setting<\/strong> to ensure the group mode<\/strong> is set to separate groups<\/strong> or visible groups.\u00a0<\/strong>For assistance in setting the Groups, see the following page of the Moodle Instructor Guide: https:\/\/pressbooks.bccampus.ca\/unbc\/chapter\/how-to-create-groups\/<\/a><\/li>\r\n \t
      2. Click Add a new discussion topic<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t
      3. Under your post select the Advanced link.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t
      4. Under the Heading that says Your new discussion topic, scroll down and to the right of where it says Groups click on to check off the box next to post a copy to all groups<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t
      5. Scroll down and select Post to forum<\/strong>\r\n

        If you would like to post one question to one group (i.e. Group 1) and a different question to another (i.e. Group 2)<\/h2>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

              Frequently Asked Questions<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

              Can I send a private reply to students?<\/h2>\r\nYes, when you are replying to a forum post to the right of the Submit<\/strong> and Cancel<\/strong> buttons under your message, check off the box next to Reply privately<\/strong>. However, while students will see your private message, they cannot reply back to it.\r\n

              How to add a new topic?<\/h2>\r\n

              Go into your Forum and select Add a new discussion topic<\/strong>.<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

              How to star, pin and lock posts?<\/h2>\r\n

              \r\n\r\nOnce you click on your form, on the right hand side select the 3 vertical dots on the post you would like to star, pin or lock!\r\n\r\nTo pin a post:<\/strong> Any forum discussion that comes after this will appear under this pinned post.\r\n\r\nTo star a post:<\/strong> To favorite a post and this will move the discussion to the top of the discussion list, under any pinned posts.\r\n\r\nTo lock a post: <\/strong>Ensures no one can post to it anymore.\r\n

              In a forum is there a place where I can see how many times a student posted and replied within a discussion?<\/h2>\r\n
              \r\n
              \r\n\r\nYes, this is called the summary report! It pulls things from the forums such as the number of discussions posted, number of replies posted, word count and etcetera for each student.\r\n
