About the Authors
Dr. Aderonke Agboji, RN, BScN, MScDS, PhD and Jane Beech
Dr. Aderonke Agboji is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). With over two decades of experience in nursing practice, education, and leadership, her work centers on improving the quality of life for older adults, particularly those living with dementia in long-term care and community settings.
Dr. Agboji holds a PhD and dual MSc degrees in Dementia Studies and Leadership & Management. Her research integrates quantitative and mixed-method approaches to address challenges such as apathy, cognitive decline, and mental health in aging populations. She is particularly interested in the role of gerontechnology and artificial intelligence in supporting evidence-based care for older adults.
Her broader areas of expertise include dementia care, chronic disease management, family caregiving, health equity, and rural health services. Dr. Agboji is committed to making research accessible to students, practitioners, and communities—an approach reflected in her contributions to open educational resources and inclusive learning practices.
Jane Beech is a licensed practical nurse with almost a decade of nursing experience. She has experience in long-term care, acute medical/surgical, palliative care and community pediatrics. She has a particular interest in research, palliative care, wound care and holistic care of patients by meeting them where they are. As of yet, she has not figured out what she wants to be when she grows up.
At the time of this publication, she is an undergrad student at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) in the Bachelors of Science in Nursing program. Graduation is expected in 2026 at which point she expects to embark on the next stage of her nursing career.
