Congratulation Letters
A congratulation letter is a formal acknowledgement of an OER Champion’s achievements, serving as a personalized thank you from the student community.
Drafting the Letters
After the event, the student organizers should draft a congratulation letter for each of the recipients that recognizes their achievement.
Template – Congratulations Letter
The following is a template for the OER Champions Congratulations Letter. The template is available both in an Open Document format for use with word processing tools (e.g. Word, Google Docs, etc.). This letter contains information for both campuses and should be adapted depending on the campus context.

Signatures
Once the letter has been finalized, the student organizers should export the letter as a PDF and email the correct individuals to collect signatures. In your request for a signature, we encourage you to provide a date for when you would like to receive the signed letter.
Distribution
We recommend sending the signed letters to each OER Champion by both mail and electronically. It is also worth considering sending the letter to the department head to raise awareness of the activities of the faculty within a department and to support additional communications about the champions through their departmental communication channels.
Examples – Departmental Communications About OER Champions
The following are examples of departmental communications, including newsletters and website posts, for past OER champions:
If delivering the congratulations letter by mail, the letters should be delivered in a envelope and dropped off at the OER Champions’ faculty or department office. You can use the UBC Faculty and Administrative Directory for finding the appropriate faculty or department for each OER Champion on both campuses.
Electronically
You can find the email addresses for each OER Champion using the same UBC Faculty and Administrative Directory.
