7 Research Proposal Project
You will work in a team of 3 members. The goal of this project is to prepare a research proposal on a topic in the area of culture and psychology and present it to class.
- Choose a topic
- Review of the past research literature. Minimum 8 research articles from scholarly journals using PsycInfo, The articles must be from the last 5 years.
What was known before? What is missing/ not explored? - Provide a Rationale for your research why it is necessary/important to do this particular research?
Draw this rationale from the past literature review. What will your research contribute? - Provides the details of the methodology. The research methods proposed must be EMPIRICAL which may combine features of experimental methods and non-experimental methods such as surveys, correlation. Include the following:
- Sample: How many? Age? Male? Females? Ethnicity? From where? etc. How will they be recruited?
- Measurement tools (include copies in the Appendix ) such as a survey, questionnaires, experiments
- Plans for data-analyses- Descriptive, t-test? ANOVA? Correlation?
- How will you ensure the culture specific methodology requirements are integrated?

- Reference list in APA style
- Appendices to include copies of the questionnaire/scales/standardized test ‘
- Class Presentation: About 12 minutes
- PowerPoint : 8 slides. Include the following
- What is the topic? Why is it necessary to do a research on it?
- Past research- how this research would add to knowledge and practice
- Methodology – how do you plan to do your research? Why you chose these methods, measures, questionnaires etc.
