59 Secure Data Transfer and File Permissions

Previous Lesson

Lesson 13 of 18

If you are working with a team, you need to establish authentication and access procedures and file permissions so that only authorized users can access the data.

You may also need to set up protocols if more than one team member may be accessing a file (to prevent things from accidentally being overwritten).

You also need to plan for secure ways to transfer your data between team members. Some cloud storage systems (e.g., Microsoft OneDrive) have built in ways to manage file permissions and sharing.

If you need external collaborators to have access to your institution’s systems, consult with your local IT department, because they may have additional considerations and permissions to set up to allow this.
