The Research Proposal

79 What is a Research Proposal?

A research proposal provides persuasive evidence of the need for and the rationale for the proposed research.  Before going out and undertaking research, a researcher must set forth the plan to undertake the research.  Essentially, a research proposal is the plan for the entire research project.  It describes in detail, the methods the researcher plans to utilize in order to undertake the research and it contains a statement of the anticipated outcomes the researcher expects at the conclusion of the study.  Generally, a compelling research proposal should document the researcher´s knowledge on a topic. It should also demonstrate to the reader of the research proposal that the researcher has the ability and an enthusiastic and passionate desire to undertake and complete the proposed research.
