Land Acknowledgement

Technical Writing Essentials is a collaborative effort of many folk, most of whom work at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. The University of Victoria’s campus is located on the traditional lands of the Coast Salish Peoples. Many of the contributors are settlers here, and we acknowledge with respect that we do our research, writing, and teaching on the traditional territories of the  Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land and waters continue to this day. We also acknowledge our responsibility to seek and learn from opportunities for truth telling and reconciliation, and the need to engage in the ongoing work of decolonizing our campus community both inside and outside the classroom.
