Stereotypes

On June 16th, 2015, Donald Trump labelled Mexican immigrants as rapists, drug dealers, and criminals. On the television show “The View”, the panellists were discussing these comments. Kelly Osbourne, in an attempt to condemn Trump’s claims, said the following:

While Osbourne was decrying one set of stereotypes (rapists, criminals, and drug dealers), she let show some of her stereotypes about Latine people – as janitors and custodials. In this module, we are going to take a look at stereotypes – what they are, how they form, what some of the consequences are, and what sustains them in the face of new, contradicting information.
