7 Adapt content into blocks

Adaptive learning platforms allow students to skip content that they understand and go straight to the content they need to know.  As many educational resources are linear in nature (one topic building upon knowledge from the previous topic) you will be required to segment the content into individual chunks.

This is where the importance of having comprehensive learning objectives is critical.  As the curated content is gathered and analyzed it will start to be placed under the heading of the learning objective.  It may be useful to use a table such as this for each individual learning object:

Remember that it is important that each learning objective has its own set of resources as well as various levels of difficulty.

As you begin to organize your resources you may find that your learning objectives are too broad.  Do not be afraid to go back and revise the learning objectives. Remember that the Learning objectives are the backbone of the adaptive learning process.  The more dialled in the learning objectives can be the better the adaptive learning platform can personalize to the individual learner’s needs.
