–        Select Manual on engine control panel and press START to start the generator using the batteries. Stop generator and restart using the alternative hydraulic start arrangement.

–        Adjust governor control to generate 60Hz.

Connect emerg generator –        Ensure Emergency bus-tie control is in Auto and back feed is in the off mode

–        Close Emergency generator switchboard circuit breaker.

–        Close Emergency generator circuit breaker.

–        Set engine control to AUTO.

4 73 Supply emergency power –        Connect all breakers in feeder panels A1, B1

–        Connect all 24V breakers on ESB.

–        Connect emergency transformer

–        Connect all breakers in feeder panels A2 and B2.

5 Check Alarm summary –        Press F8; review resident alarm list and prioritize required actions eg. If Bilge level is high then lining up the Bilge system takes priority.

Test emergency fire pump

 

 

 

 

Test communication with bridge

–        To start emergency fire pump, click on emergency fire pump icon, the suction and discharge valves are linked to the pump starter panel and open automatically when the pump is started. Check pressure and flow in the fire main by opening fire hydrant on deck (MD 97)

–        Request bridge to test emergency fire pump from bridge too

8 62,63 Establish integrity of  ship’s Bilge pumping system –        For ship’s safety, at start up, the following must be done.

–        Set pump/valve control to Manual

–        Set Bilge Separator Pump control to Manual

–        Set Separator operation to Manual

–        Open dirty bilge water tank inlet

–        check integrity of the system by starting Bilge water pump for a few seconds, taking suction from each of the bilge wells (one at a time)  – check flow

–        Switch on bilge separator electrical heater

Transfer ER bilges to dirty bilge water tank.

(if level is high)

 

–        Check oil content in bilge well.

–        Open suction valve from bilge well, one at a time.

–        Open valve to dirty bilge water tank.

–        Start bilge pump in manual.

–        Monitor dirty bilge water tank level to prevent overflow.

Fill emergency air receiver –        Line up emergency air compressor to fill emergency air receiver, open all drains valves.

–        Select “LOCAL” and start emergency air compressor.  Close drains.

11 01 Prepare auxy. SW system –        Line up auxy. SW system:

–         open high sea suction vvs

–        Open DG1 FW Cooler, FW Cooler #1, and Air Conditioning cooler shut off/supply valves.

–        Open overboard discharge and re-circulating vvs.

–        Start auxy. SW pump.

–        Set SW temp controller to 20°C and put on AUTO

Prepare LT FW system –        Check SW shut off vv to FW cooler #1 is open.

–        Open LTFW air compressors shut off valve.

–        Open HTFW recirc bypass vv.

–        Open LTFW FWC 1 shut off vv.

–        Set LTFW controller to 34.00 and put on AUTO.

–        Open LTFW FWC 1/2 by-pass valve.

–        Start Auxy LTFW pump.
