16 Final Blog Post Assignment

Blog Post: Final

Your Blog Post is due this week. All of the Blog Posts will be published on the Institute’s website, and will be publicly available. This means that you can include this, as well as the Legacy Project, on your CVs/resumes.

Instructions

Throughout the past few weeks, you will have been working on the Blog Post, based on the same research topic that you focused on for the annotated bibliography, Legacy Project, and Presentations. Use concise, easy to understand language that will engage the general public. Assume high school comprehension level for science and reading. Draw on any media you think will support your audience in better understanding your chosen problem. You must cite all sources, literature, media, and content that is not your own. Supports learning outcomes 4-7.

Key Information:

  • This is an group assignment
  • This is due on our last day together
  • Do not use overly long sections of text, fuzzy images, or resources that you cannot cite properly
  • Submit as a word document

Requirements:

  • Approximately 750-1500 words
  • Must explain:
    • Your research question(s)
    • Your background research
    • Why the readers should care about this issue
    • Your Legacy Project
    • Explanation of your rational for choosing that Legacy Project and your methods for creating it, and how it would be implemented or delivered
  • Include your Legacy Project (can be a link or file)

Assessment

Marking Rubric:

Choice of message: is it easy for the general public to understand the problem? 10%
Persuasiveness of content: are you supporting your argument and persuading your general public audience? 40%
Clarity of writing: are your using correct grammar and clear language, and avoiding jargon? 30%
Appropriate graphics, images, videos, links, or other media to support your argument 20%
Total 100%
