Welcome to ePublishing Services, UVic Libraries’ OER by Discipline Directory. This resource was adapted from the BCcampus Open Education OER by Discipline Directory. This support guide lists a broad range of open educational resources (OER) organized by discipline. OER are teaching, learning, and research resources that, through permissions granted by the copyright holder, allow others to use, distribute, keep, or make changes to them. This directory was developed to highlight as many OER as possible — case studies, courses, games, repositories, simulations, textbooks, videos, and more — and organize them so faculty can easily locate resources in their subject area.
We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the University of Victoria stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
OER in this guide are organized by discipline, where each discipline has its own chapter. Some of these chapters were created in the adaptation process, and others came directly from the original BCcampus Open Education resource. These chapters have all been placed within parts, which correspond to faculties at the University of Victoria.
Sometimes a resource is multidisciplinary and hard to categorize, sometimes a resource could be used in different ways in different classes, and sometimes we don’t always know whether a resource is meant for people studying to be electricians or electrical engineers. So if you don’t find what you’re looking for in a particular subject area, look through chapters on similar topics and see if there are other materials there that fit your needs.

This OER by Discipline Directory was cloned from the BCcampus OER by Discipline Directory. As such, this directory inherited the accessibility features of that resource, and followed the guiding principles of that resource as outlined in its Accessibility Statement.
This directory is a living document, and as such any suggestions for further resources to input into it are very welcome. If you know of any OER that you would like to see included in this directory, please email press@uvic.ca with your suggestion.
Amelia Ritchie, Scholarly Communications Intern (2023-2024) at University of Victoria Libraries, adapted the first edition of this directory specifically for the UVic context from the BCcampus Open Education guide. The first edition was published on November 15th, 2023. Amelia’s contributions included reorganizing the guide to reflect the faculty structure at UVic, adding additional OER, modifying the Book Info, creating the book cover using Canva, and correcting any errors encountered in the directory (i.e. broken links).
