Territorial Acknowledgement

As members of the Douglas College Community, we gratefully acknowledge and honour the territory and the lands on which the project originated. We respectfully acknowledge that Douglas College campuses are located on the unceded traditional and ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the q̓íc̓əy̓ (Katzie), qʼʷa:n̓ƛʼən̓ (Kwantlen), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and qiqéyt (Qayqayt) First Nations.

Douglas College Welcoming Pole

The Welcoming Pole located at the Aboriginal Gathering Place (New Westminster campus) is by Musqueam artist Susan Point. The Coast Salish peoples use poles carved with a welcoming figure – often making a gesturing motion – by way of greeting guests arriving on their territories.
