Land Acknowledgement

Technical Writing Essentials is a collaborative effort of many folk working at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. University of Victoria’s campus is located on the traditional lands of the Coast Salish Peoples. All who contributed written sections to this textbook are settlers here, and we acknowledge with respect that we do our research, writing, and teaching on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen People, the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationship to these lands continue to this day. We also acknowledge our responsibility to seek and learn from opportunities for truth telling and reconciliation, and the need to engage in the ongoing work of decolonizing our campus community both inside and outside the classroom.
