Using GAI Intentionally and with Integrity in Writing Courses: Creating a Decision Tree
Review the UNESCO risk-management flow-chart “When is It Safe to Use ChatGPT?” (link) (Sabzalieva and Valentini, 2023, p. 6). Design a similar decision tree for the writing assignments in your course, considering the foundational learning the class develops or relies upon and that the assignments are evaluating. Will using GAI to produce such writing align with or work against the purposes of those writing assignments? What foundational knowledge do you need to have to be able to evaluate the quality of texts that GenAI produces?
