10 Course Schedule
Spring 2023 Example
Pre-Course: May 4-7
- Read Course Handbook (provided in advance and within the D2L course).
- Book time in your calendar for synchronous and in-person sessions.
- Read the Definitions section from Week 1 in preparation for week 1’s synchronous session.
- Think about some learning activities you might want to try in a blended mode.
- Introduce yourself in the Introductions Discussions forum.
Week 1: May 8-12
Mon, 1:30-230
Attend the Introductory/Community-building synchronous session in Zoom.
Mon – Thur
Engage in the following activities:
- Review Course Overview, Schedule, & Theory.
- Introduce yourself in the Introductions Discussions forum if you haven’t already done so.
- Sign up for the in-person portion of your lesson for week 2 and 3 by enrolling in a facilitation group.
- Read Week 1 Overview.
- Read Principles of Blended Learning.
- Post in the Discussion Forum on the Challenges and Benefits of Blended Teaching/Learning.
- Read Challenges and Benefits of Blended Teaching/Learning.
- Read Planning Your First Blended Lesson.
- Begin planning your first blended lesson.
Fri, 9:00-11:00
Attend the in-person session at Lansdowne Campus.
Week 2: May 15-19
Mon – Tues
Engage in the following activities:
- Read Week 2 Overview.
- Study the online content related to gathering and using student feedback and monitoring student learning.
- Present your online, asynchronous portion of your 1st lesson, by:
- emailing, by Monday morning, the FLO facilitators with any requests for support with your lesson content (e.g. creating a quiz or survey).
- emailing, by Monday morning, the FLO facilitators a ‘News’ item that briefly describes your session to your colleagues.
- posting, by the end of the day Monday, your lesson in the Week 2 Participant Facilitated Sessions Discussion Forum.
Tues – Thur
Engage in the following activities:
- Participate in at least 2 asynchronous lessons offered by your colleagues, participating in lessons that you will also participate in during the in-person session.
- Respond, as needed, to the asynchronous portion of your 1st lesson.
- Participate in the online activities related to gathering and using student feedback and monitoring student learning.
Fri 9:00-3:00
Attend the session at Interurban Campus to present your in-person lesson and participate in those of your colleagues. You are welcome to attend for the morning, afternoon, or for the day.
Sat – Sun
Engage in the following activities:
- Provide feedback on your colleagues’ blended learning activities.
- Reflect on/respond to feedback on your session.
Week 3 May 22-26 (May 22 is a holiday)
Mon – Tues
Engage in the following activities:
- Read Week 3 Overview
- Study the online content related to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in a blended-learning course.
- Present your online, asynchronous portion of your 2nd lesson, by emailing a ‘News’ item and any additional support requests to the FLO facilitators and posting your lesson in the Week 3 Blended Lesson Discussion Forum
Tues – Thur
Engage in the following activities:
- Participate in at least 2 asynchronous lessons offered by your colleagues, participating in lessons that you will also participate in during the in-person session.
- Respond, as needed, to the asynchronous portion of your 2nd lesson.
- Participate in the online activities related to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in a blended-learning course.
Fri 9:00-3:00
Attend session at Lansdowne Campus to present your in-person lesson, participate in those of your colleagues and the course wrap-up activities. You are welcome to attend for the morning, afternoon, or for the day.
Fri – Sun
Engage in the following activities
- Provide feedback on your colleagues’ blended learning activities.
- Submit course self-assessment in the Post-course Assignment drop box.
- Complete Course Feedback Form.
