19 LEDs Efficacy

Aaron Lee

LED efficiency has recently improved from approximately 60 lumens per watt to between 100 and 150 lumens per watt depending upon the manufacture.

{Efficacy} =\frac{lumens}{watt}

This is a significant improvement over CFL’s (compact fluorescent) which typically range in the 50 to 70 lumens per watt range, and a dramatic improvement over traditional incandescent lamps, which produce between 13 to 20 lumens per watt.

High electrical efficiency and good CRI make LEDs the proffered choice for future lighting applications. While LEDs are presently more expensive to initially purchase than traditional incandescent, they pay for themselves over time through energy bill savings.
