Critical Reflection

Submit 1 page as a Word document or other format.

Please reflect on 2 or more of the questions below:

  • What strengths do you bring to interdisciplinary team building?
  • How do your (multiple) identities and worldviews impact your work in interdisciplinary teams or cross-sectoral collaborations?
  • What are some challenges you’ve experienced when working in interdisciplinary teams or cross-sectoral partnerships?
  • What insights from the readings would you like to put into practice?

Skills Building

Submit 1-3 pages as a Word document or other format.

Option One

Using the principles and practices from the readings, assess the health of a present day or past collaborative process (formal or informal) that you’ve participated in.

  • What were/are some of the different worldviews (logics, values, priorities) of the participants? What impact did/do these have on the partnership (process and outcome)?
  • In what ways was/is this example embodying characteristics of strong cross-disciplinary partnership? What conditions (be as specific as possible) enabled this?
  • In what ways did/does it struggle or face challenges? Why is that? What interventions might you make to improve it? What might you do differently going forward?

Option Two

Using one of the case studies provided, or one you’ve chosen yourself:

  • Briefly describe the case study.
  • What might be some of the different worldviews (logics, values, priorities) of the participants in this partnership? What impact might these have on the collaboration (process and outcome)?
  • What steps would you take if you were leading/brokering this partnership?

Community Building

Share some of the challenges that you described in your critical reflection. Offer reflections or ideas on 2-3 of your peers’ posts.
