Methods and Tools – Part IV

Facilitating the Facilitator

All of the methods and practices previously outlined are supported by the self-awareness, presence and self-management of the meeting facilitator or dialogue host. Factors such as the facilitator’s degree of present moment awareness, ability to notice and suspend judgements, engage in their own curiosity and stay with discomfort or conflict all influence their ability to work with the practices of dialogue. Reflection questions in the assignments provide some ways to facilitate yourself as a facilitator and prepare to implement the practices of dialogue as appropriate and relevant for your work.
