About the Authors

Rana is a fourth-year chemical and biological engineering student at UBC. She takes interest in biomedical engineering, process control, machine learning, bioprocessing, and food processing. Outside of school and writing open-source textbooks, Rana spends most of her time leading the Biochemical Innovation Team (as part of the UBC Biomedical Engineering Student Design Team) and cooking. She hopes to pursue graduate school once she graduates in May 2021.

Rosie Qiao is a third-year student currently studying in the Chemical & Biological Engineering program at UBC. She takes interest in bioprocessing and medical-related technologies and materials. Outside of school, she is also interested in various forms of drawings, including watercolour, acrylics, and process flow diagrams.
