Model Dialogues

These model dialogues help you practise simple descriptive language. You’ll learn how to ask and answer “What is it like?”, describe weather and conditions, and review basic words for tastes and colours. You’ll also practise polite interaction, identifying objects, and asking about ownership.

Weather and Condition

John and Sarah talk about today’s weather, how warm things feel, and how it was outside earlier.

Speaker Nepali Transliteration
John आज मौसम कस्तो छ? āja mausam kasto cha?
Sarah आज मौसम राम्रो छ। āja mausam rāmro cha.
John तपाईंको ज्याकेट न्यानो छ? tapāī̃ko jyākeṭ nyāno cha?
Sarah हो, ज्याकेट न्यानो छ। ho, jyākeṭ nyāno cha.
John कोठा भित्र कस्तो छ? koṭhā bhitra kasto cha?
Sarah कोठा भित्र अलि तातो छ। koṭhā bhitra ali tāto cha.
John बाहिर कस्तो थियो? bāhira kasto thiyo?
Sarah बाहिर अलि चिसो थियो। bāhira ali ciso thiyo.

Tasting and Describing Food

Ramesh offers Seema fruit and tea at home and asks how each item tastes.

Ramesh सीमा! sīmā!
Seema हजुर? hajur?
Ramesh यो के हो? yo ke ho?
Seema त्यो स्याउ हो। tyo syāu ho.
Ramesh अनि यो के हो? ani yo ke ho?
Seema त्यो केरा हो। tyo kerā ho.
Ramesh कृपया केरा खानुहोस्। kṛpayā kerā khānuhos.
Seema हुन्छ। huncha.
Ramesh केरा कस्तो छ? kerā kasto cha?
Seema केरा गुलियो छ। kerā guliyo cha.
Ramesh अब कृपया स्याउ खानुहोस्। aba kṛpayā syāu khānuhos.
Seema हुन्छ। huncha.
Ramesh स्याउ कस्तो छ? syāu kasto cha?
Seema स्याउ अलि अमिलो छ। syāu ali amilo cha.
Ramesh यो चिया कस्तो छ? yo ciyā kasto cha?
Seema यो चिया मीठो छ। yo ciyā mīṭho cha.
